Hello! 今日は! Hallo! Dzień dobry!
I’m Dasza Seyda, a self-taught collage artist. I transform paper into art, drawing inspiration from cutouts found in magazines, brochures, books, and flyers.
My work is purely analog—no digital tools involved—just scissors and scalpels, which makes me a bit of a rebel in the illustrative world.
The name YADAsza stems from the Japanese word “yada” (やだ), meaning “no” or “no way”—a playful reflection of my artistic journey.
Born in Poland, raised in Germany, and a graduate of Manchester Metropolitan University, I moved to Japan in 2012. During my time there, I became a member of the Japan Illustrators’ Association, refined my cutting techniques under the guidance of kirie master Shu Kubo, and collaborated with the German School of Tokyo Yokohama. I began creating portrait collages in 2015, and I’m now expanding my practice to include both art and commercial illustrations. Currently, I live and work in my hometown of Szczecin, Poland.
CUSTOM PORTRAIT COLLAGE
I have a passion for creating unique portrait collages that are artistic interpretations of you. My process is personal and hands-on: I start with a photo session, where I take a headshot of you, then print and hand-cut the image. Using magazine cutouts, I adorn your portrait, layering it with vibrant, artistic details. Each collage is a reflection of you, transformed into a one-of-a-kind piece of art. Of course you are welcome to send in a favorite picture of yourself, too.
I invite you to browse through my gallery to see examples and contact me if you’d like to commission your own custom portrait collage.
COLLAGE FOR COMMERCIAL PROJECTS & ADVERTISEMENTS
In addition to creating custom portraits, my work offers a creative and artistic approach to advertising, using layered magazine cutouts to create visuals that stand out. Whether for high-gloss magazine spreads, product advertisements, or event posters, I transform everyday items into works of art that capture attention. Let’s work together to create some engaging visuals for your audience, brand or campaign.
